
About Abigail
Abigail Loree Ruppert is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and emerging poet. Her work explores personal and universal themes of passing time, place, and self reflection.
Ruppert holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a Master of Arts from West Virginia University. She now lives and works in Owensboro, Kentucky, where she serves as Assistant Professor & Art Program Coordinator to grow the Associate in Fine Arts-Visual Art program at Owensboro Community & Technical College.
Ruppert’s large-scale public work has been exhibited in parks and institutions across the Mid-Atlantic, Midwestern, and Southern U.S., such as West Virginia University, Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania, and Scovill Sculpture Park in Decatur, Illinois. In 2021, her sculpture Revival won both Second Place and People’s Choice awards in the Art in Public Places sculpture exhibition in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Ruppert was also awarded the 2020 Outstanding Student Achievement Award in Contemporary Sculpture from the International Sculpture Center, which included a feature in Sculpture Magazine. In addition to solo exhibitions at Foundry Art Centre in St. Louis, Missouri in 2024 and Fitton Center for the Arts in Hamilton, Ohio in 2025, Ruppert has upcoming solo exhibitions at John Waldron Arts Center in Bloomington, Indiana in 2026 and Schmidt Art Center in Belleville, Illinois in 2027.
Ruppert's latest project is Faultline Anthology, which encompasses her upcoming book and series of visual work, merging poetry, memoir, and sculpture in one big authentic expression of human experience. Ruppert has received a South Arts Literary Art Project grant in support of Faultline Anthology, and the book is expected to release in March 2027.
When she is not working or making art, she enjoys visiting her nieces, Rhea & Nora, and exploring the great outdoors with her cat, Baby Rig.
